The Mechanic Motor Vehicle (MMV) (NSQF) trade is a 2-year Engineering course offered by Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), designed to develop skilled professionals in the inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair of automobiles. The course equips students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to diagnose faults, overhaul, and maintain two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, commercial vehicles, and other automotive systems using modern tools and diagnostic equipment.
During the course, students gain expertise in automobile engines, transmission systems, steering and suspension, braking systems, fuel injection systems, electrical and electronic systems, battery maintenance, wheel alignment, emission control, and preventive maintenance. They are trained to read technical manuals, use computerized diagnostic tools, identify mechanical and electrical faults, perform engine tuning and overhauling, replace defective components, and follow standard workshop practices and road safety regulations. The course also introduces students to modern automotive technologies, including electronic fuel injection (EFI), anti-lock braking systems (ABS), hybrid and electric vehicle fundamentals, and customer service skills, preparing them for employment in the rapidly growing automobile industry.
