The Welder (NSQF) trade is a 2-year Engineering course offered by Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), designed to develop skilled professionals in welding, fabrication, and metal joining techniques used across various industries. The course equips students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to join, cut, fabricate, and repair metal components and structures using different welding processes, tools, and equipment while ensuring quality, precision, and workplace safety.
During the course, students gain expertise in Arc Welding, Gas Welding, MIG (Metal Inert Gas) Welding, TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) Welding, gas cutting, brazing, soldering, metal fabrication, blueprint reading, welding symbols, measuring instruments, and quality inspection. They are trained to interpret engineering drawings, prepare and fit metal components, perform different types of welding on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, inspect weld quality, and follow industrial safety standards and welding codes. The course also introduces students to modern welding technologies, fabrication techniques, automated welding systems, and preventive maintenance of welding equipment, preparing them for employment in manufacturing industries, construction projects, shipbuilding, automobile industries, oil & gas sectors, power plants, and heavy engineering organizations.
