The Fitter trade is a 2-year Engineering course offered by Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), designed to develop skilled professionals in fitting, assembling, installing, and maintaining mechanical components and machinery. The course provides students with practical knowledge of engineering drawing, measuring instruments, fitting operations, welding, drilling, machine assembly, and maintenance.
During the course, students are trained to read engineering drawings, use precision tools, fabricate and assemble machine parts, troubleshoot mechanical systems, and follow industrial safety standards. They also develop problem-solving skills and gain hands-on experience with modern workshop tools and equipment. The trade prepares candidates for employment in manufacturing industries, engineering workshops, automobile sectors, construction projects, maintenance departments, and other industrial organizations.
