The Electrician trade is a 2-year Engineering course offered by Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), designed to develop skilled professionals in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. The course equips students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to work safely and efficiently in residential, commercial, industrial, and public utility sectors.
During the course, students gain expertise in electrical wiring, electrical machines, power generation and distribution, domestic and industrial installations, transformers, motors, generators, lighting systems, batteries, electrical measuring instruments, control panels, and renewable energy systems. They are trained to read and interpret electrical drawings and circuit diagrams, install and maintain electrical equipment, troubleshoot electrical faults, perform testing and maintenance, and follow national electrical standards and safety regulations. The course also introduces students to basic electronics, energy-efficient technologies, and modern electrical tools, enabling them to meet the growing demands of the electrical and power industries.
